This academic paper focuses on the consequences of the workplace on both descriptive gender stereotypes and prescriptive gender stereotypes (designating what women and men should be like), and their implications for women's career progress. It examines the relationship between the gender stereotypes and the workplace bias. It is an important and essential reference for the secondary data of this research.

 

According to this study, it states that women are not yet free of the burden of gender stereotypes. When female seeks male gender-typed positions, they are prone to be seen as incompetent to handle them. Because of this social perception, people would not try. The gender-typed positions or jobs is related to the gender stereotype. In the situation of Hong Kong, people have a stereotype of the education industry. They think the education industry is a female gender-typed position. It is showing that there is a gender bias in the education industry of private tutor.

In this journal, it states that the teaching of young children has long been dominated by women. This global phenomenon is firmly rooted in issues relating to the position of women in society. It shows the relationship between the gender bias and gender balance in the education industry. It is strongly related to the second research question. It would be extremely helpful for examining the gender balance and the social perception in Hong Kong.

 

According to this study, the gender balance level of the education industry is low. As the previous study stats that the gender stereotypes are affecting people’s choice. Because of this reason, the social perception of different gender is possibly affecting the gender balance of the education industry in Hong Kong.

This report focuses on the gender income gap and the role of education. The main finding of this report is useful for me to find out is there a gender bias in the private tutor of Hong Kong. According to this report, it states that even the male and female are having the same educational background or level, female earn less than the male. The gender income gap is another gender bias issue. Based on the result of this sociology report, the gender income gap issue has possibly existed in the Hong Kong education industry.
